Terms

These terms cover using Precis for Mac and this website. They're meant to be read. By downloading or using Precis, you agree to them.

Your licence

• A licence lets you use Precis on up to 2 Macs that you own or use, at home or at work. It's for you; it isn't for sharing with a team.
• It doesn't expire, and it includes every 1.x update. A future major version may be a separate purchase. If it is, the version you have keeps working.
• You can move it: deactivate it on one Mac in Settings › Licence, then activate it on another.
• The free trial gives you all of Precis for 7 days, with no card. After that, dictation needs a licence. Your History, Styles, Dictionary and Snippets stay available either way.

What you may not do

• Share, sell or publish your licence key, or use it on more Macs than it covers.
• Copy, change or redistribute Precis, or get around its licence check, except where the law lets you.
• Use Precis to break the law or someone else's rights.

Buying

Precis is sold through Dodo Payments, the reseller and Merchant of Record. They process your payment, charge any sales tax or VAT, and send your receipt, and their terms apply to the purchase. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay.

Refunds

If Precis isn't for you, you can have your money back within 30 days. See the refund policy.

Check what it types

Speech recognition and Styles can get words wrong. Read what Precis types before you send it, especially where a mistake matters, such as medical, legal or financial writing. Precis helps you write; it doesn't replace reading it over.

Other people's work inside Precis

Precis uses NVIDIA's Parakeet model (CC BY 4.0) through FluidInference's FluidAudio, OpenAI's Whisper through Argmax's WhisperKit, Sparkle for updates, and Apple Intelligence. Their own licences apply to those parts.

Warranty and liability

Precis is provided as it is. I work to keep it reliable, but I can't promise it will be free of errors or always available. As far as the law allows, I'm not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and my total liability for any claim about Precis is limited to what you paid for it. Nothing here takes away rights you have under consumer law where you live.

Ending

You can stop using Precis at any time. If these terms are broken, the licence may be turned off.

Changes

If these terms change, the date at the top changes too, and a significant change is mentioned in the release notes of the update that brings it.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, without taking away consumer protections that apply where you live.
